Anti-wrinkle injection

BOTOX is a purified protein that works by blocking overactive nerve impulses that trigger excessive muscle contractions. BOTOX therapy should only be administered by a trained and qualified physician. It has been approved by the US Federal Drug Administration since 1989 and has been used for medical purposes for over 20 years.

Where can it be used?

Botox is widely used for fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet and under the eyes, also chin dimpling and horizontal lines on the neck can be reduced by using small doses of Botox. It can also be used for excessive perspiration and treatment of migraines. It is also widely used for the treatment of migraines and Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) which is a condition that affects millions of people around the world.

How does it work?

Botox is injected into certain muscles therfore relaxing them and leaving the overlaying skin smooth and unlined. The advantage of Botox is that specific facial areas which are lined can be treated and other surrounding facial muscles are left to function as usual producing normal facial expressions.

What can I expect after my treatment?

Results are visible within five to seven days after the treatment. Your face will appear more refreshed with dramatically softened facial and expression lines. Eyebrows can also be treated to open up the eyes for more youthful appearance.

How long will it last?

Botox is temporary (the effects last three to six months) Clinical studies show the duration of effect increases over time so you may require less frequent injections to maintain the results.

Is it painful?

Due to the very small needles used the injections are not painful, although depending on how sensitive you are and for your comfort, your practitioner may use a local anesthetic. Some people only require the need to ice the area before treatment. Treatment takes about ten minutes.

Post procedure Recommendations

Do not massage or rub the treated area. Stay upright for the following 4 hours after the procedure and if possible in an air conditioned environment. It is recommended that you avoid all activities that raise the body temperature for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Avoid sport, dancing, sunbathing, hot baths, sauna and spa activities. Also avoid hot drinks and excessive alcohol.

Post procedure side effects

At the injection site there may be temporary effects such as redness, pain, burning, or slight swelling may occur in some patients. Very rarely bruising can also be experienced by some patients which will last a few days after the procedure, however it is generally only “pin point” in size and can be covered with makeup.
