Week Two, Looking Presentable
By around two weeks, most visible swelling has settled enough that many patients feel comfortable in public and can return to normal activities within seven to fourteen days. Light eye make-up is usually reintroduced cautiously around this time, once healing allows. This window aligns with the ten- to fourteen-day on-island recovery we suggest.
Weeks Three and Four, the Fold Softens
Residual mild swelling continues to subside, and the crease begins to look more natural and less operated on. This is a stage for patience rather than judgement, since the fold is still developing.
Months One to Six, the Settled Result
The fold continues to refine and soften over the following months, and the incision line fades as it matures, settling into the natural crease until it becomes hard to see. A natural-looking result typically takes one to six months. Any thought of revision is deferred until the eyelid has fully matured, generally not before six months.
Caring for Your Eyes While They Heal
Good aftercare supports the timeline above. Keep the incisions clean, use cold compresses in the early days, and sleep with your head slightly raised. Avoid rubbing the eyes and skip strenuous activity in the first weeks.
Ease back into contact lenses and eye make-up only when your surgeon has cleared it. On sun, favour shade and gentle indoor light rather than direct sun on healing skin, and protect your eyes when outdoors.
