Frequently asked

Our energy-based device menu covers a comprehensive range of technologies, each targeting a different skin concern and layer. Erbium laser is a precise ablative resurfacing laser that removes the outer skin layers to address fine lines, texture, scarring, and pigmentation with excellent control and faster recovery than CO2. CO2 laser is the gold standard for deeper ablative resurfacing — delivering the most significant improvement in lines, laxity, and skin quality, with a longer recovery period. Nd:YAG laser targets vascular lesions, pigmentation, hair removal, tattoo removal, and deeper skin rejuvenation, and is one of the safest options for darker skin tones. AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) is an advanced evolution of IPL that delivers more uniform, controlled light energy across a broader spectrum — addressing pigmentation, redness, vascular irregularities, and skin tone with greater precision and safety than conventional IPL. Laser 360 is a comprehensive, multi-modality rejuvenation protocol that combines AFT, Nd:YAG, and radiofrequency in a single coordinated treatment plan to address pigmentation, vascular irregularities, skin laxity, and overall skin quality simultaneously. Vascular laser specifically targets visible blood vessels, redness, rosacea, spider veins, and port wine stains with precision light energy. Radiofrequency (RF) devices — including BTL — deliver controlled heat to the deeper dermis and soft tissue to stimulate collagen, tighten skin, and improve body contour without surface disruption. At consultation, your doctor will assess your concerns, skin type, and goals and recommend the most appropriate device or combination for your individual needs.
Ablative treatments — such as CO2 and Erbium laser — work by removing the outermost layers of the skin in a controlled way, triggering significant collagen remodelling and revealing fresher skin beneath. They deliver the most dramatic improvement in skin quality, lines, and texture but require a meaningful recovery period of several days to two weeks depending on the depth of treatment. Non-ablative treatments — such as AFT, Nd:YAG, vascular laser, radiofrequency, and BTL — work beneath or through the skin surface without disrupting it, stimulating collagen, targeting pigment or vessels, and tightening tissue with little to no downtime. The right choice depends on your concern, your skin type, your tolerance for downtime, and how soon you need to be socially presentable — your doctor will guide this decision at consultation.
AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) is a more sophisticated and precise evolution of conventional IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). While standard IPL delivers broad-spectrum light with less predictable distribution, AFT converts previously wasted ultraviolet energy into effective therapeutic wavelengths, resulting in more uniform light delivery, better targeting of pigment and vascular irregularities, and a safer, more comfortable treatment experience. AFT is effective for sun damage, uneven skin tone, redness, fine superficial vessels, and general skin rejuvenation, and is safe across a wider range of skin tones than conventional IPL when used with appropriate settings.
Laser 360 is not a single device but a comprehensive, staged rejuvenation protocol that combines three complementary technologies — AFT for pigmentation and vascular irregularities, Nd:YAG for deeper collagen stimulation and skin tightening, and radiofrequency for structural lifting and contouring — in a coordinated treatment plan. It is designed for patients who want to address multiple signs of facial ageing simultaneously — pigmentation, redness, skin laxity, and texture — in a structured, progressive programme rather than treating each concern in isolation. The protocol is customised for each patient, and the number and sequence of sessions are tailored to your specific skin concerns and starting point.
Vascular laser uses precisely targeted light energy to selectively collapse and eliminate unwanted visible blood vessels, redness, and vascular lesions without damaging the surrounding skin. It is highly effective for rosacea and facial redness, spider veins and broken capillaries on the face and body, port wine stains, cherry angiomas, and post-inflammatory redness following acne or other skin trauma. It is safe for most skin tones when the appropriate device and settings are selected. Patients with active skin infection, a recent tan, or certain medical conditions affecting vascular health require assessment before treatment. A consultation and, where appropriate, a patch test will determine your suitability.
Yes. Tattoo removal is performed using Q-switched or pico-pulse Nd:YAG laser, which delivers ultra-short pulses of energy that shatter tattoo ink particles into fragments small enough for the body's immune system to naturally eliminate over time. The number of sessions required depends on several factors: the size, age, and location of the tattoo; the colours present (black and dark blue respond best; green, yellow, and light colours are more resistant); the depth of ink placement; and your skin tone and immune response. Most tattoos require six to twelve sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart for significant fading or complete removal. A realistic assessment of your specific tattoo will be given at consultation — we do not quote a fixed number of sessions without first evaluating the tattoo in person.
Most adults with concerns including skin laxity, fine lines, texture irregularities, pigmentation, vascular lesions, rosacea, acne scarring, unwanted hair, or tattoos are candidates for at least one energy-based treatment. The specific device recommended depends on your skin tone, the severity of your concern, your medical history, and your lifestyle — particularly your sun exposure habits and downtime availability. Patients who are pregnant, have active skin infections, are taking certain medications such as isotretinoin, or have a history of keloid scarring require careful individual assessment before any energy-based treatment is undertaken.
Yes, when the correct device and settings are selected for your specific skin type. Darker skin tones require particular care, as certain lasers carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) if used at inappropriate settings. AFT and vascular laser can be used on medium skin tones with appropriate settings and conservative protocols. Radiofrequency and BTL are safe across all skin tones. CO2 and Erbium laser require conservative settings and careful protocol planning for darker skin. We will never use a device on your skin that is not appropriate for your tone.
This depends on the device and your concern. CO2 or deep Erbium resurfacing can deliver significant improvement in a single session. Nd:YAG treatments for pigmentation or vascular lesions typically require one to three sessions. AFT for pigmentation and skin rejuvenation generally requires three to five sessions. Vascular laser for rosacea or spider veins typically requires two to four sessions depending on the severity. Laser 360 protocols are typically structured across three to six sessions combining multiple devices. Radiofrequency and BTL skin-tightening protocols generally involve three to six sessions. Tattoo removal requires six to twelve or more sessions depending on the tattoo. Hair removal with Nd:YAG requires six to eight sessions. We map a realistic, honest treatment plan at consultation — never a package designed to exceed what is clinically necessary.
