Labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, hymenoplasty and fat transfer — sensitive procedures performed with privacy, care, and the same surgical standards as the rest of our practice.

Overview

Labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, hymenoplasty and fat transfer — sensitive procedures performed with privacy, care, and the same surgical standards as the rest of our practice.

Preparing for your procedure

For vaginoplasty and labiaplasty, schedule surgery outside your menstrual period, ideally after it finishes or at least two weeks before your next cycle. All sutures are dissolvable and standard preparation applies. For fat transfer, follow the usual prep and plan ahead for protecting the treated area afterwards.

Recovery & aftercare

After intimate procedures, avoid intercourse or penetration for four weeks (labiaplasty) or six weeks (vaginoplasty), maintain strict hygiene, wear loose breathable clothing, and avoid harsh soaps or douching. After fat transfer, avoid pressure on the area for two months, including tight clothing and sitting directly on a treated buttock; expect about 30 to 50 percent of grafted fat to be reabsorbed before results settle.

For women seeking greater comfort and confidence, labiaplasty gently reduces excess tissue while preserving a completely natural result.

Recovery & aftercare

All sutures are absorbable and dissolve on their own; mild swelling, bruising, numbness and tenderness are common and settle gradually over several weeks. Gently cleanse the area with sterile saline and apply the prescribed antibiotic ointment two to three times daily, or after urination and bowel movements, patting dry rather than rubbing. Avoid sexual intercourse or any vaginal penetration for at least four weeks after labiaplasty and six weeks after vaginoplasty, and avoid smoking, alcohol, strenuous activity, swimming and sauna for at least two months. Maintain strict genital hygiene, keep the area clean and dry, wear loose, breathable underwear, and avoid harsh soaps, antiseptics or douching unless approved by your doctor. Attend all follow-up appointments, and contact us immediately if you notice heavy bleeding, severe pain, foul-smelling discharge or fever.

In a single session, fat harvested from areas such as the abdomen or thighs is purified and precisely re-injected to restore volume and refine contour, restoring fullness and correcting contour with virtually no scarring at the recipient site.

The Procedure

Fat is harvested from one area such as the abdomen or thighs, purified, and re-injected to restore fullness or correct contour irregularities, leaving virtually no scar at the recipient site.

Recovery & Aftercare

Mild swelling and bruising at the donor and recipient sites settle over a few days. A support garment may be worn and most return to normal life within one to two weeks.

Alternatives

Leaving the area untreated or pursuing diet and exercise are options; in some cases direct surgical removal of excess skin and fat may be needed instead.

Risks & considerations

Bleeding or haematoma · Infection · Altered skin sensation · Skin contour irregularities · Asymmetry from variable fat survival · Seroma (fluid collection) · Visible or thickened scarring · Partial loss of grafted fat · Anaesthetic complications

Frequently asked

Labiaplasty reduces and reshapes the labia minora — the external tissue — for greater comfort and a more refined contour. Vaginoplasty addresses internal laxity of the vaginal canal through muscle tightening and reconstruction. They address different concerns and can be performed independently or together. Your surgeon will clarify which procedure, or combination, is most appropriate for your goals at consultation.
Labiaplasty reduces excess external tissue and does not affect internal sensation or sexual function. Vaginoplasty may improve sensation by addressing laxity of the vaginal canal; however, as with any surgical procedure, changes in sensation — temporary or otherwise — are possible and will be discussed at your consultation. Both procedures are designed to support, not diminish, your comfort and wellbeing.
Labiaplasty and hymenoplasty are typically performed under local anaesthesia, making them straightforward day procedures with minimal downtime. Vaginoplasty may be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure and your preference. Your surgeon and anaesthesiologist will determine the most appropriate option for you.
For labiaplasty, intercourse and any penetration should be avoided for at least four weeks. For vaginoplasty, a minimum of six weeks is recommended. For hymenoplasty, intimacy should be avoided entirely until after the procedure has served its intended purpose, or as directed by your surgeon. In all cases, your surgeon's guidance takes precedence based on your individual healing progress.
Scarring is minimal with both procedures. For labiaplasty, incisions are placed within the natural contour of the labia and become very difficult to detect once healed. For vaginoplasty, all incisions are internal. Dissolvable sutures are used throughout, and most patients find that any external evidence of the procedure is imperceptible within a few months of surgery.
Most patients find that labiaplasty and hymenoplasty have among the shortest recoveries of any surgical procedure — discomfort is generally manageable within the first few days, and most patients return to light daily activities within one to two weeks. Vaginoplasty may involve a slightly longer period of discomfort, typically one to two weeks, with full internal healing taking six to eight weeks. Strenuous activity, tight clothing, and prolonged sitting should be avoided during the initial recovery period for all procedures.
Fat transfer is suited to patients who have sufficient donor fat available — typically from the abdomen, thighs, or flanks — and who are looking to restore volume, correct contour irregularities, or enhance a specific area naturally. It is not suited to very slim patients with minimal available donor fat, or to patients with significant skin laxity that volume alone cannot address. Your surgeon will assess your suitability and recommend the most appropriate target and donor areas at consultation.
Not all of it — partial resorption is a normal and expected part of the process. Roughly 30 to 50 percent of grafted fat is reabsorbed over the first four to six months as the body integrates the new cells. The fat that remains after this period is considered permanent. Your surgeon will account for this when planning the volume to be transferred, and a top-up session can be considered if needed once the final result has settled.
Pressure on the treated area in the early post-operative period can reduce fat cell survival and compromise your result. Tight clothing, prolonged sitting on a grafted area, and sleeping directly on the treated site should be avoided for approximately two months after the procedure. For facial or hand fat transfer, avoiding sustained contact or compression of the area is similarly important during the early healing phase.
Yes, and it frequently is. Fat transfer is commonly performed alongside liposuction, abdominoplasty, facelift, or breast surgery, using fat harvested during the same operative session. Combining procedures reduces overall recovery time and anaesthetic exposure. Your surgeon will advise on the most efficient and safe combination based on your overall treatment plan.
